Inchin Bamboo Garden, Irving TX

Indo-Chinese or Indian Chinese Cuisine as the name suggests its a fusion of Indian and Chinese Cuisine. To my knowledge these are the only two cuisines that have gelled so well together and has managed to get its own set of fans all over the world.

Inchin Bamboo Garden is a restaurant chain in the USA that specializes in serving authentic Indo-Chinese(IC) cuisine. I am a big fan of IC food, back in India every street has a IC restaurant. But same is not the case outside India. It becomes very hard to find a restaurant that satisfies your hunger for IC. So during my quest for IC I found Inchin Bamboo, I had tried them once in Chicago and was very let down by them. But, when they opened a branch in Irving, TX which is literally next door to my office I had to give them a second chance.

So, one fine Friday evening me and my husband decided to visit this restaurant for dinner. We had plans for a movie after the dinner and we were going straight from the our office so we landed here just as they opened the doors for their dinner service which was at 5:30 in the evening. Needless to say we were the first customers of the evening. As I entered the place I felt that it was very poorly lit, it was dark and gloomy. But then it may also be because we were too early. Anyways we were seated in a nice comfortable table, soon after that a waiter stopped by to hand the menus and take the drinks order. We kept it simple and ordered 2 mugs of beer. The glass they serve beer in is not good, it did not look like a mug from any angle. They have a full fledged bar, the least one can expect is decent glasses.

It was then time to place our orders, I ordered Paneer Chili and my husband being a chicken lover ordered Drums of heaven. I took a moment to go through the decor once again, there few Chinese dolls hanging on wall some of them looked scary. There was a false ceiling made out of bamboo near the entrance. Every table had 5 types of house sauces placed on them. According to me that was a bad idea, I know you are trying to promote your sauces but if your dishes needs us to use them all then I am sorry to say I might as well just buy the sauces and head home. Right?

Our order came up very fast, again because we were the first customers. I took my first bite and all my sensory glands woke up with delight for the first time since I had left India. The paneer chili was just perfectly seasoned and truly in IC style. I did not have to use any of the sauces placed on my table. I enjoyed wiping off the plate all by myself. I could tell that Drums of Heaven tasted just as good by the amount of time it took to vanish from the plate. After eating the entire starter all by myself I hardly had any space for main course. But, I did not want my stomach to growl after the movie so I decided to take 'Burnt Garlic Chili fried rice' to go.

Midway through my dinner I saw a fly lying dead in my half empty glass of beer. I did not even want to think whether it was there all along hiding behind the foam (Ewwwwww) or had just fallen into it. My husband very sympathetically convinced me that it was there all along hiding behind the foam but its alcohol so the dead body was cleansed by it and hence I need not worry about it. I wanted to a fuss about it but we were late for our show and so I decided to let it go. Besides I was busy drinking gallons of water in a vain hope that it will take off that weird feeling from my tongue.

Well, my over all experience was ruined because of the fly's sacrifice/suicide. But, then everything I ate tasted good and made my tummy very happy. They have a different section in the menu to give 'us vegetarians' lots of options to choose from. So, please do visit for a authentic IC experience and do leave your comment to tell me how you liked it. Or even if you just enjoyed or hated reading my experience. Thank you!
